May the God of Hope fill you with all the joy and peace in believing, so that, by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in Hope. -- Romans 15:13
Dear Web Site Visitor,
50 years ago Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized. Those who labored to get it started had Hope in their heart. They had hope in their future, hope in their community, hope in each other, and hope in Christ.
Today we abound in hope because there is a bright future ahead. Beyond the present uncertainties of this day is a broad and glorious horizon beckoning God's people toward all that yet will be.
Today we abound in hope because Brighton Township is still a growing community. The number of young families and children is increasing once again, as in former times. There are new houses, new faces, new needs, and new opportunities for ministry. In recent years we have chartered a Boy Scout troop and a Cub Scout pack, hosted several Girl Scout units, opened our building to the Elementary School PTA for their use, and a weight loss program meets here regularly.
Today we abound in hope because the members of this congregation have shared their faith and life together in many ways.
Together we have proclaimed the good news through preaching, teaching, and fellowship.
- We offer two opportunities for worship on most Sundays, weekly Eucharist, special Holy Day and holiday services.
- We provide Sunday school classes for children, youth and adults, first Holy Communion and Catechetical instruction classes, and Women's Bible studies.
- We gather for social hours, dinners, and picnics throughout the year.
- We have hosted ecumenical gatherings, Synodical youth activities, and World Day of Prayer services.
- We encourage youth people to be involved.
Together we share our faith with others.
- They are acolytes, junior ushers, ushers, and lectors at worship.
- They have shared their thoughts from the pulpit.
- They have been helpers at Vacation Bible School.
- They do projects for the church and for people in need through their youth group.
Together we have shown love and concern for persons in need.
- We bring family and friends to worship and other activities.
- We have canvassed the neighborhood, put out fliers and distributed literature.
- We welcome every visitor and have an earnest desire for others to join us.
Today we abound in hope because Christ is faithful. He is present among us in worship. His Word is our nourishment. His mission is our mission. His cross is our glory. His love is our joy. His faithfulness is our hope.
- We have produced award winning social ministry programs and an award winning fraternal organization.
- We have maintained an active Women's Organization and a telephone prayer chain.
- We have provided emergency aid to families in times of crisis and benevolent gifts to worthy causes.
Come! Abound in Hope with us!
